A safe city begins with supporting the men and women who protect our community every day. During her service on the Pensacola City Council from 2018 to 2022, Ann Hill worked to ensure Pensacola's police officers and firefighters had the equipment, technology, and support they needed to serve the community effectively. She believes public safety and civil liberties go hand in hand.

As Pensacola City Council President, Ann Hill helped lead the City through the NAS terrorist attack, Hurricane Sally, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the city's cyberattack, supporting public safety operations and continuity of government during each crisis.
Ann believes effective public safety depends on strong partnerships. Throughout her service, she worked with local, state, and military agencies to strengthen emergency response and keep Pensacola safe.
Ann believes public safety and individual freedom go hand in hand. She supports giving law enforcement the tools they need while protecting privacy, due process, and the constitutional rights of every resident. That is why she opposes mass surveillance technologies, including FLOCK cameras and red-light cameras.

Supported a three-year collective bargaining agreement that provided firefighters with pay increases of 3%, 3%, and 10%, helping improve recruitment, retention, and recognition for the dedicated men and women who protect Pensacola.
Supported funding for the construction of the new Fire Station No. 3, providing firefighters with a modern facility designed to improve emergency response times, operational efficiency, and long-term public safety.
Supported funding for replacement fire engines, rescue apparatus, thermal imaging cameras, breathing apparatus equipment, mobile data terminals, emergency radios, and other essential tools that improve firefighter safety and emergency response capabilities.
Supported investments in firefighter training, including funding for advanced training equipment and a fire training simulator to ensure firefighters remain prepared for a wide range of emergency situations.
Supported continued investment in the regional 800 MHz public safety radio system, strengthening communication between firefighters, police officers, EMS, Escambia County, and neighboring emergency response agencies.
During Ann's service on the City Council, the Pensacola Fire Department earned the prestigious ISO Class 1 Public Protection Classification, placing it among the highest-rated fire departments in the nation and recognizing excellence in staffing, training, communications, equipment, emergency response, and fire prevention.
Served on the Pensacola City Council during the 2019 NAS Pensacola terrorist attack, the COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricane Sally, and the City's cyberattack, helping oversee emergency response operations, disaster recovery, and public safety budgets during some of the most challenging events in Pensacola's recent history.
