About Me

About Ann Hill for Mayor and qualifications and her biography of experience in government.

My background

Ann Hill represented District 6 on the Pensacola City Council from 2018 to 2022. During her term, she was selected by her fellow council members to serve as City Council President and Vice President.

While serving on City Council, Hill sponsored and supported neighborhood-focused initiatives she refers to collectively as The Ann Plan, which addressed environmental protection, transportation safety, historic preservation, housing affordability, and public access to community resources.

These initiatives included:

  • Water quality testing and stormwater infrastructure improvements
  • Street tree planting, strengthening the tree ordinance, and promoting native plants
  • Historic preservation measures and creation of a historic building demolition review process
  • Affordable housing initiatives and efforts to address rental affordability
  • Improvements to sidewalks, bike lanes, dog parks, and playgrounds
  • The Gonzalez Street Shareway and traffic-calming road diet projects
  • Development of the Pensacola Bay Paddling Trail and Blueway Community
  • Opening Bruce Beach to public access
  • Establishment of public marinas at Community Maritime Park and Baylen Slips
  • Expanding diversity on City Council advisory boards
  • Naming of the Gen. Chappie James Bridge and creation of a memorial plaza

Hill has served on numerous local and regional committees, including the Florida–Alabama Transportation Planning Organization, Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program, Pensacola–Escambia Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, and as City Council representative to the Eastside Neighborhood CRA, Downtown Improvement Board, and Keep Pensacola Beautiful.

She has owned a home in the Belmont–DeVilliers neighborhood since 1991 and served for eight years on the executive board of the Belmont–DeVilliers Neighborhood Association. Hill also represented the association during the early formation of the Council of Neighborhood Association Presidents of Pensacola. In addition, she was appointed by City Council to the Community Maritime Park Associates, serving from 2012 to 2017.

Hill earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her professional background includes daily newspaper journalism and tourism marketing. Her interests include gardening and local history, and she emphasizes the importance of neighborhood involvement and public participation in local government. Read More about Ann Hill
